Guest guest
Hi, If he is still in the infant carrier/car seat you might consider switching to a convertible now. You can try it out first, but many find the convertible (rear facing, switches to front facing later) is more comfortable with a band than the infant car seat. I hope everything goes smoothly. Keep us posted. -christine sydney, almost 3 yrs, starband grad > > We have decided to go with CT- we got scanned last Friday and will get the DOC band on the 22. I am really nervous about it and hope he does well. They told me that since he is just 4 months old we are going to catch some good growth spurts and should expect to be in it 8-10 weeks or so. He was moderate to severe Brachy.. I will post pictures soon, once I can figure out scanner. Any advice for the first few days? Will he need anything behind his head in the car seat besides the rest that came with the seat? any other suggestions? > > I did find someone to paint it but she will not be able to do it for a few weeks so thought I could put some Christmas stickers on it for the 1st week. I am off from work the first week we get it it so it will be nice to be here all the time while he adjusts , however I work from home and have someone that comes in and watches him for about 5 hours each day while I work so it is nice that I am here and can take him to all his appts, which are weekly. > > Thanks and wish us luck! >
Guest guest
Hi ! Congratulations on making the decision to go with the DOC band! Our daughter, Kaylee, started her band at 4.5 mos as well. It's been 6 weeks now and she is doing great. We are only waiting on 1milimeter of growth in her ears and then she is done! The PT thinks it will be another 2-3 weeks. The time goes VERY fast and at this young, they really don't seem to be bothered by it. At least Kaylee wasn't. First night with it was a little bit rough, simply because we took away her " comfy sleeping spot " . Other than that, it's been a breeze! Do everything they say, keep it on for 23 hours and I'm sure your little guy will do just great! Also, this group is EXTREMELY helpful! Stay informed and up to date with people here. It helps so much! Good Luck! Can't wait to see pictures! ~Jeanne-Marie > > We have decided to go with CT- we got scanned last Friday and will get the DOC band on the 22. Guest guest
Hi , My son got his DOC band when he was 4.5 month old. I am so happy that I made the call for him as a mother. He started off with moderate plagio and moderate to severe brachy. Now he's in it for 4 weeks we've seen great great improvement. In fact only 2 weeks after he's in the band we started to notice his head shape round up really nicely - maybe he hit a growth spurt that week. I am sure same thing is going to happen for your little one as well, since he too started at this young age! Hope he will grow fast and well in the next few weeks. The first two or three days might be a little bit rough. On the first night my son wore his band we dressed him as usual and he developed heat rash during the middle of the night. It went away soon but since then we realized how important it is to keep him cool under the band. Good luck with everything! Keep us update once you get the pictures!
