Guest guest
Hello Everyone, I am totally conflicted and need some advice. We just got back from our appointment at Cranial Tech and the PT said that we are waiting on Kaylee's ears to move a little bit more. Everything else is done growing. Her head shape is complete, brow is fine, only about one milimeter of difference in her ears. Her right ear is more forward than her left. Okay, so anyway, we have 9 days till Christmas and then we fly out to New York the day after. It may sound vain...but I really don't want to have her in it for this trip. Well, at least not the whole time. We are going to visit a lot of family that I'm not sure she will ever see again (due to how old they are) and I'd just like to have pictures and moments with her without the helmet on. So I was thinking...would it be so bad if for the 10 days we are there, if I had her in it as much as possible, but then for visits with family, took it off? I'm thinking being in it for 15 hours instead of 23 couldn't hurt too much, right? I don't know. I guess I'm ridiculous for being so vain, but I can't help it. The PT said " Ultimately, it's your decision. But her head grows all the time, not just when she's in it. So she might grow out of it. " I seem to think she's being a little bit more cautious than is necessary. HELP! What do you all think?
Guest guest
Hi, Actually, I was thinking of doing the same thing during Christmas with the family b/c not everyone was on board with our decision to get the Doc Band, the questions, the stares, etc. But we decided to stick to the 23 hour regiment b/c every hour counts, as our PT told us and that every hour we keep him off of it, adds up. She told us to see the absolute best results we needed to adhere to the 23 hour schedule and she seemed to suggest that it could mean the difference b/w one band or two. At least with us since our baby is 4.5 months old. And for him,he was diagnosed with severe combo of plagio/brachy where it's not just about the flatness of his head but he would have trouble chewing since his jaw was shifting, his right eye bulged a little and his right ear shifted forward where he would have trouble wearing glasses and hats if we didn't correct this problem. That's just us and our thought process. We figured this is just one Christmas and our window of opportunity is small, so we figured this is what's best for him and we really don't want him in a 2nd band if possible. We are grateful for all the kind responses on this board that helped us to feel better about our decision to band him. And to our current pedi who told us we MUST get it. Good luck with your decision and Merry Christmas! > > Hello Everyone, > I am totally conflicted and need some advice.
