There can be some redness at the holding points. My daughter had

brachy so her head was extra wide. She had red spots on the two side

holding points the entire time. However they faded quickly, and didn't

get worse - that is the kind of red spot that is okay. Try distracting

him in the band to get him to keep it on longer. It might just be

getting used to it. If the spots are fading in 15 minutes they don't

sound like a problem. However if any spot is getting worse you want to

stop wearing the band before the skin breaks down, gets raw etc, since

then you have to leave it off more.
