Re: How successful is the DOC band with brachy?

What she was trying to explain is that your daughter's head will continue to be

as wide as it is, the band does not squeeze the skull into a narrower shape. It

can only hold the growth at the widest points (the two sides) and

encourage/force the growth to go to the back of the head which will give the

head a better overall appearance (it will be longer, making the width not as

prominant). It should reduce the severity of the flared sides because the rest

of the head will look more proportionate. I know it's hard to

understand/imagine, but the DOCBand works just as well with brachy as it does

for plagio. You should check out Maysa's blog (mom is Leila, the link is at the

end of her posts) to see really good photographic evidence of how the DOCBand

works with brachy. She just posted about the improvement in Maysa's left ear,

and that can kind of shows you how, even though the head is not narrower, the

overall growth to the back of the head makes it look much more " normal. "

Good luck!

the front, the sides flare out. As a result her face look wider than normal.

appearance, because to paraphrase her words " you can't push in the sides of the

head. " She said the cephalic index would improve, but the problematic appearance

remains.

Has anyone else had experience with this?
