Guest guest
Hi Everyone. WARNING THIS IS A LONG WINDED POST! Just wanted to say that I am home in Michigan and doing well. My surgery was Sept 28th. Surgery went off with no problems. The first day was the worst. I had quite a bit of pain on my left side, but the pain pump and a shot of demeral did the trick. Had a hard time walking that day but did anyway as you must to dispell the gas. I found Durham to be a very nice place and the people extremely friendly. My sister and I went out shopping and to museum and the movies after and before surgery. I was scheduled for the 27th but was asked by Barbara at clinic if I would wait untill the 28th as Dr R had something to do on the 27th. I wasn't going to say no after driving from Michigan. I found Dr R nice with a dry sense of humor. Barbara was wonderful as she is on the phone. And most of the staff at the hospital were good also.I went to my PCP on Wed when I got home and I have lost 10 LBS already!I have not taken diabetes meds since the day before surgery and my blood sugar has not went over 120 since I left the hospital. I am a little sore in the abdomen like a pulled muscle or to many situps and that is it. I haven't taken any pain meds since the 2nd day out. Some days I feel a little tired out and some days full of energy. I am going back to work Monday. (I have a desk job) My dr was really impressed with how well I am doing and feeling.I would do it again in a heartbeat. I met Betty Harril while at clinic and she is a hoot. What a great sense of humor. I did not realize she had complications untill I was home already. I pray that all is well with her now. I met quite a few patients of Dr Rs while wandering the halls at the hospital. All great people. So I am officially a post op now if any wants to contact me I will gladly answer any questions you have or go into more detail about my Durham experience.
