Guest guest
Sharyn, So glad to hear you are feeling better about having the surgery. Also happy that the RP is behaving itself. LOL Stay positive! Sandy Well saw my rheumy this past Monday and he is going to keep me on the 7 1/2mg of pred and the 15mg of Meth. He also told me that he won't have to take me off any of the medicaions because they are so low. However, he did tell me that after the surgery I will receive a massive dose of a steriod. He explained that our body normally produces this, but when we are put on one such as Pred that for some reason when we have surgery the production of the steriod shuts down completely...sure hope I explained that. He's reassured me that after the hip replacement I will feel much better and the pain will go away...I made him promise me...he did :)Other than that the RP is quiet and I'm feeling okay cept for the hip pain.I'm not as scared about the surgery and have talked to several people who have had it so that helps me as well. (Not immediately, though!!) The rehab is the really hard part, with any orthopedic surgery, most people wonder why they bothered, initially, but do your exercises and be patient, and it will improve!! Its true about the pred too, that is why most of us can't get off pred totally!! Once I understood that I found it a lot easier to cope with. Good luck, will be sending positive thoughts your way!
