Guest guest
Hi , I am an aromatherapist- also with HepC...going the natural route in treating. I used to have horrible pain too. I am actually feeling great now. I make formulas for people with Fibromyalgia that interferes with sleep all the time. Is that when it is worst? Are you doing any exercises/ stretching? Have you focused on diet/nutrition? I'd be happy to talk to you privately...I could make you a remedy or suggest some things you could try if you like. I can also send some general recipes/suggestions here if others are also in need, I just prefer to work with people as individually as possible. Guest guest
I wish I could help. My dr put me on wellbutrin for depression which had the added effect of being a mild stimulant. I think that helped me a little bit. I know the methadone and neurontin can make you sleepy, but since you've been on it so long already I guess that can be ruled out. My wife is on medication that makes her sleepy for rhuematoid arthritis and her dr prescribed adderall and that seems to help her. Good luck and I'll keep you in my prayers. -dz-"Pegasus.realm" <Pegasus.Realm@...> wrote: Okay... I can not take this any longer. Guest guest
Have you tried a electric blanket. We got one for Anni and it has really helped. We ordered it online and it is the safest and most washable on the market. Just thought I would ask. Cynde sleep help Can anyone tell me how to help Hannah sleep? She has been flaring like crazy and takes hot baths at bedtime and even in the morning (which really tells me she is hurting). She also looks terrible when she gets up. She looks very unrested and says she's feeling very restless during the day because she is so tired. She takes her bath right before getting in bed. Says she falls asleep right away, but wakes up in the middle of the night, every night, and can't get back to sleep. I asked her what she is thinking about when she wakes up (thinking she was stressed over something) and she said I'm thinking why am I awake!!!! She does admit to being in pain when she wakes up, but does not think the pain is waking her up. She says life is good (except for the flare, but she's kind of used to that as sad as that is) and she is not stressed out. She's got lots of exciting, fun things going on right now so I have agree its not stress. Any suggestions would be great! I just ordered an alternative down pillow top mattress topper for her bed (no feathers, because of the asthma) thinking maybe its her bed. Guest guest
Hi Beth, I certainly understand your concern about an electric blanket.? I used one for last winter when he was having problems at night.? I would turn it on a few minutes before he went to bed - then he would be nice and warm and would fall asleep with the blanket on.? Before I'd go to bed, I would go in his room, turn off and un-plug the blanket.? In the morning I would get up, go in his room and plug it in and turn it on, that way it would warm him up before I woke him for breakfast.? Just a thought - not trying to convince you of something that you aren't comfortable with.? His was a good one that was also washable - though after several washings by the end of last winter it had quit working.? He has managed this winter without one.? I hope that you find something that helps Hannah sleep.? Lot's of folks still use warm milk - though not something I ever tried.? Maybe a relaxing herbal tea?? Guest guest
Beth, goes through this at times. Her first episode went on for a year or so. She would be so wore out when she woke up every morning. She would say she was waking several times in the night. My Sister suggested I take her to a Lung Dr as she seen. This Dr said looked awful. Asked about her sleeping. He sent her for a Sleep Study and this brought light to 's issues. Through this we found out has Narcolepsy and Sleep Apnea. never got into a Deep Sleep either. He said there's 4 or 5 stages of Sleep. When a Person doesn't go into each stage they deprieve their body of a good nights sleep. was only going into Stage 2 of sleep. Once we found this out he wanted to keep a record of her sleep. He also did some research on JA patients and sleeping Disorders. His findings were JA kid's have Sleep issues. So he contacted the Rhuemy and they put on Benadryl for 2 weeks to see if this would help. But it didn't. We went to trying a few thing's. Make sure the room is dark and no disturbing sounds are there. Make sure the bed is comfortable Make sure the room is not too Hot or too cold. Take a Hot bath before bed Read a book Never lay in bed if you are not sleeping... Get up and lay on a Couch or chair. Make the room just for sleeping Try Music Therapy with soft sounds Some people can sleep better if a TV is on. Some can not sleep with a TV on Colors of a bedroom can also change sleep patterns. Soft colors help as well Try anything that is comfortable. This may sound alittle off but if the child sleeps better on the couch or in a recliner then allow the child to sleep there. use to sleep better with her legs across my hips. lolol. Today she may sleep in her own bed but other days she may end up in my bed as it is How she is feeling. There's still times when she may sleep 12 straight hours and wake for 4 hours and still sleep but it does not mean she is having restful sleep. I have more thing's to try with helping a child sleep. Guest guest
Beth..I can totally understand why your mom would feel that way after such a devastating loss. I have my reservations about them myself. I checked these out very carefully and only bought one with the idea that it could help my grandaughter walk better in the morning. For me it was a decision too. Her mom turns on the timer to come on just one hour before she wakes up in the am. That way it warms her right before she has to get up. It is not strange..but a warning worth listening to! Hugs,Cynde sleep help Can anyone tell me how to help Hannah sleep? Guest guest
The new electic blanket has a timer that allows 10 different timed on and off settings. Seems they must have know that moms were having to turn them off and on all the time:)) it works great and is really washable hugs,Cynde sleep help Can anyone tell me how to help Hannah sleep? Guest guest
Beth I went to bed tonight about 9. woke me when he came to bed about 20 minutes ago, and I hurt so badly that I had to get up for awhile. Moving around and stretching my joints helps with the pain. Usually, I take tylenol or an nsaid and throw my rice packs in the microwave. Sometimes I never really go back to sleep, other times I do. Bless Hannah's heart. Guest guest
I've found that 5HTP does wonders for me as far as sleep goes. They say you shouldn't take it if you have gastro-intestinal difficulties. I will go into REM sleep on a regular basis if I have taken at least 3 tablets a day, I wake up feeling refreshed and earlier than without the help. Now if only I could find something to rid my body of pain! easier said than done I guess.

Guest guest
Anne, I loooove celery. I eat lots of veggies. They do not bother my gut. I know what is wrong with my gut. I have too much yeast, which we are working on and I have an overgrowth of a bad bacteria. It responds to an antibiotic that is used for Malaria. However after three months or so I am back to same old issues. The thing that has helped my gut the most has been eliminating bad foods from my diet. Sugar, soy, wheat, grains, nuts, beans, diet soda, artificial sweeteners, dairy { I can eat goat products}, caffeine, no beef, chicken or pork that has not been grass fed.....long list. However I don't have to run to the bathroom anymore. I still have issues that my Naturopathic doctor is slowly working on. Right now I am working on the yeast issue. Causes huge gut issues. Among other things. I will continue to eat my celery with me sea salt. It has always been a favorite. hugs, Sue From: hvn8bndverizon (DOT) net <hvn8bndverizon (DOT) net>Subject: RE: Sleep HelpDate: Wednesday, April 1, 2009, 7:08 AMI've found that 5HTP does wonders for me as far as sleep goes. Guest guest
Gotta love that sea salt. On my edamame, I use a Himalayan salt that has a bit of iron in it (found it at the health food store). Guest guest
Any Suggestions? My son is 4 and half months old and we just got the DOC band on Thursday. He used to be the best sleeper. Now he wakes up every 20 min. screaming. The only way to get him to stop is to take it off. Anybody have or had this problem. Will he get used to it or do I need to get it refitted? There are some red spots but they go away quickly. Thanks, (mother of 4.5 months old, 3 days in the DOC Band)
Guest guest
,Actually SMR (which should always be done with eyes OPEN) is helpful for falling asleep, not necessarily staying asleep. Training down the fast activity in the right-rear quadrant (if you have alpha/theta ratios around 1.5 or higher with eyes closed at P4/A2) should help. As far as a brain type...I am a bit of a beta head with a little too much beta in the back right, alpha seems fine and temporals are a little hot (primarily due to raising RAD children).
