Guest guest
Hi Sonja, I had a pancreolauryl test in Dec. 2002. In fact it did not indicate a malfunctioning pancreas, despite all my increasing pain and malabsorption. Later, when the CT scan in March 2003 showed extensive calcifications throughout and atrophy.........in fact, a pancreas in no state to function much at all........ the docs said the pancreolauryl test was not always accurate!! I was tempted to ask the obvious question but I didn't! At the time I had the test I was not taking Creon. The test did not make me feel more ill even though it involved eating quite large amounts of butter on bread. You also asked a question about diet and which foods made malabsorption symptoms worse. I am still experimenting with my diet as I was originally diagnosed with coeliac disease. I was also advised to give up foods containing lactose. This was back in 1988/89. It's too early yet for me to be sure if I can safely consume gluten and lactose. I'll let you know how my diet works out. A lot of CP sufferers seem to have difficulty with red meat or fatty foods in general. Hope to hear from you soon, Sonja. Take care. With good wishes, Fliss (UK)
