Guest guest
Greetings to All, After having 2 acute attacks within 3 months, my wife is now recovering at home for the last 30 days. Her nausea and abdominal pain have disappeared, but back pain has persisted. She has started eating since the last 20 days and is taking it easy on food so far. The main concern right now is her back pain...it just wont go away. Its constantly there and, as she says, is deep down below the shoulder blades, upper back and upper-middle back. She is on Oxycontin (10mg) every 12 hrs., which helps with the pain, but as soon as she starts to cut down on the pain med, she feels the back pain again. We have been seeing a GI, a Pancreatic Surgeon and an endo. The endo wants her off the narcs asap. and also suggested getting a pain specialist involved to discuss other approaches like nerve blocks etc. The GI and Surgeon suggest we wait longer. We are not sure how to deal with the pain at this point. We fear she may eventually get addicted to the pain meds and may also develop tolerance to it. Does anyone have any suggestions based on their experience which can be shared? Thanks. ~ Singh Yadav
