Guest guest
Hello All,I do not recommend CIRS in Palo Alto, CA. Bob was the Technician we saw most often. He was quite rude and uncomfortable to be around. We did not see very much correction but my son had a relatively mild case. I did not expect much but I wanted to try everything we could. I'm NOT bitter about that-it's the treatment I (my son) received when I went in there that I'm upset about.Bob was gruff at best and talked to me like I was an idiot. In terms of the STARband I guess I was, but he never offered much information or guidance. I had to drag stuff out of him and when he answered he was short and rude. I would ask a follow-up question and he acted like I was asking him to read the entire encyclopedia. We had an appt last week and I missed it on accident because I got caught up with my other child who has another medical issue. I JUST realized I missed it when I was going through my purse and saw the reminder card. I did NOT recieve a courtesy call. They are not that busy that they can't call to reschedule. I think at this point, 14 months we are done with the band and with Bob. I would never treat anyone the way Bob treated us. I do not understand why someone we PAID IN FULL to provide services would treat their patients like that. They just wanted the money and do not care about the outcome. I have a feeling Bob at CIRS is shady. Do not take your business to him. Luckily if you live in the Bay Area you have other choices.Good luck to you all how are going through the banding process, it's hard enough as it is. I hope you have support.Noah 14 months, wore helmet for 5+ months.
Guest guest
Hi, I wanted to add my 2 cents about CIRS and Bob. We went there a little over 2 yrs ago and saw Bob most of the time, and Amy a few times. I think we got very good correction for severe brachy. In my opinion Bob tried to be nice, but he's not really a people person. He did seem to know what he was doing and has lots of experience. He was sort of dismissive of somethings, but I took it with a grain of salt. However they always fit us in when we needed an adjustment early, and we never had any problems with our band. My daughter wore her band for 5 mo (ages 5 to 10 mo). I think her correction was very good, although maybe it would have been quicker elsewhere (no way to know). They were also willing to do a follow up appointment after 4 mo to see how she did (the same, no additional improvement post-band) and even asked me to come back after that, but our life got crazy and we moved to India. I'm not sure what other good options are in the Bay area. Recently I've heard about UCSF, but I only from a few people, so I don't have a strong opinion yet. CIRS in Oakland is good, but I know at least one mom who went there and wasn't happy and ended up going to CT in LA for a docband. I think Trish at CIRS/Oakland is good, but has less experience than Bob and Amy (from what I know). I do respect your opinion , but wanted to share mine as well. I'm sorry you didn't have a good experience there. Guest guest
It's possible Bob's (CIRS, Palo Alto) social skills have gone down hill since you last met with him-he was pretty bad. I did like Amy but Bob would tell me that she "has a different style" in a harsh way which made me nervous to go see Amy for fear my son's head would end up looking worse. In my opinion, bedside manner can make up for years and years of experience. If there is a problem, concern, or issue it will at leat be delt with some human compassion. I wish I had interview more places. I do still like people should check out ALL other options or just be ready to be stepped on while you're there., you are probably a stronger mom than I. I'm glad your son's head corrected well. Maybe if Bob was as cute as Hugh Laurie in "House" I would feel differently. =)Thanks, From: christineashok <christineashok@...>Plagiocephaly Sent: Monday, December 15, 2008 8:42:38 PMSubject: Re: BEWARE of CIRS, Palo Alto Hi, I wanted to add my 2 cents about CIRS and Bob.
