Guest guest
Debbie: I am on my third pain specialist. The first one was very discompassionate about my condition, and would only subscribe the bare minimum of medication, which caused me to come up short a few times, thereby labeling me " drug seeking. " In fact it was from the last PAI Symposium where I read a great article about using opiods for pain management, where they outlined how sometimes when a person is undermedicated they can show drug seeking behavior, however when they are properly medicated that these symtoms disappear, obviously because they are getting enough prescribed medication and don't have to use more than prescribed to get relief. After reading this article, I left that doctor and went to my second pain specialist. He prescribed enough medication, and low and behold I didn't run short anymore! The only reason I left him was to go to someone closer to home. I was having to take a morning off, every month to drive 45 mins. one way to pick up my monthly prescriptions. This pain doctor I currently see is the best one yet! And to answer your question, I personally did not have to have my records forwarded from one doctor to the next. They did ask if I had been seeing another doctor and why I was changing, but I don't think it was a big deal. I don't believe they ever contacted one another. So, if you aren't happy with your current doctor, I would find a new one, if I were you! Hope this helps! Robin
