Guest guest
Ear movement is possible, it's just not always guaranteed, that's why CT wouldn't commit to saying her ears would improve. The skull base, where the ears are located, is the hardest to shift and is typically the last area to correct if it does. My son wore 2 DOCBands and went from about 15mm of asym in the ears, down to about 5 or 6. So they're not perfect, but much better than where we started. Plus he wasn't banded until 17 months, so it's the best we could have hoped for. Hope that helps! Jake-3 (DOCBand Grad 9/08) > > Hey all! My daughter has been in her doc band for 6 weeks now. We are seeing some improvement, mostly in the back of the head so far, not so much in the front/assymetry, but hope to see lots more in the next couple months. My question is to those who have graduated . . . did the ears move back to " lined up " ? CT told us it was difficult to get the ears back in place, or lined up, but didn't exactly say if it would or wouldn't happen. so I thought I would see what your experiences were. She was 7 months old when she was banded. > Thanks all! > Dana > Holly doc band 8/24/09 >
Guest guest
My son got a passive helmet at 6 months; it's been 4 1/2 months now and his ear has definitely moved. It was about 1/2 " farther forward than the other, and I can barely see a difference now. What *I'm* waiting to move is his jaw--and that is definitely not guaranteed to fix since it isn't even the same part of his head that is being fixed. The left side of his jaw is pushed forward, but the doctor said he'll probably just have to grow into that; the helmet doesn't affect that bone except indirectly. Guest guest
Dana, My son started with a DOC band at 5 1/2 months and if I remember correctly, his ear asymmetry was 8mm at that time. In the seven weeks he was in band #1, we did see much improvement with ear alignment. I think he graduated at 3mm, which is in the normal range. I think most of that improvement was in the first 2-3 weeks in the band. That's when we noticed his ears were looking better. All around, the change was less dramatic towards the end of our seven weeks. He just got his second band last week. Still working to get his cranial vault numbers lower. Thankfully, though, the ears did move and they look good. Jill Cade's mom (DOC Band #1 6/18/09 - 8/5-09; DOC Band #2 9/29/09) Texas > > Hey all! My daughter has been in her doc band for 6 weeks now.
