Hearing aids and Doc band

My daughter, Siloam (we call her " Silly " ) just got her sparkly pink hearing aid

and will go for her DOC band laser sizing next week. My question is has anyone

out there have a child with the DOC band and hearing aids? Are they able to

" cut-out " and around the hearing aids? I seem some with the ears out and other

with them covered by the band. I know it depends on the type of plagio. My

Silly has moderate brachycehpaly. Anyone out there with this experience?

Thanks!!

I want to say that there has been one baby I heard of that had hearing aids and

they were able to adjust the band accordingly. If not hearing aids, then it was

definitely glasses, so it shouldn't be a problem. The bands you see that

actually cover up the ear are poorly fitted bands. That is not normal, and you

will never see a CT band (unless the scan or casting was done wrong, in which

case it would be remade and never left as it was) that will cover an ear. So

they should be able to make room for the hearing aid. With brachy, there is the

need to hold the sides of the head tight and snug, and so typically they

probably wouldn't shave a lot off around the ear, but I would hope there would

be just enough room allowed for the hearing aid. Please let us know how it goes.

Good luck!

Hi Errika.....My eight month old has hearing aids and a helmet. He has

been aided since he was three months old and got his helmet at six months. His

ortho cut out plenty of room for the aids and the helmet actually helps them

stay in better. Good luck.....Jessie
