I agree with you....I realize that many of us might have some kind of

genetic presdisposition towards certail illnesses. However, there has to

be some kind of outside factor to trigger it..

.....I was working in a hospital for 6 years when my ears first started to

swell. I was exposed daily to various chemicals such as disinfectants.

A fellow RPer, Carolyn, also worked for many years in a hospital as well.

There is one study where RP ear inflammation symptoms were induced in

rabbits by exposing them to carborator fluid and formaldehyde, suggesting

that perhaps environmental factors are involved.

I am hopeful that more research in this area will someday expose the

Someone from my other support group brought this up and I will try and

see if I can get more information regarding this. You know me..I still

think RP has something to do with chemical toxins that we have been

exposed to and this may be a key.

Bingo on the " formaldehyde " for me. That is one of the chemicals used in the

silicone that I was exposed to. Now that study really interest me.
