Guest guest
Gosh, Jill, maybe I should stay out of the press, but have fingers crossed for you! Love, Love, n this and that Dear friends, I spent a few days, last week, visiting my sister and her family, which includes my 10 yr old niece w/cf. It was a really good visit. On Tuesday, I even got to administer treatment to my niece. My sister had to go out and I was pretty sure time had come for afternoon treatment so I decided to take it upon myself to do it. I was nervous but had been quietly observing so I just did it. Besides, my niece knows what needs to be done so if I was wrong she would have told me. I gave her the albuterol and then we lugged the compressor to where the computer was because she asked if she could be on the computer during treatment. I hooked up the hoses and plugged her in and voila. She does 3 sets of 10 min. and uses the flutter and huffs after each 10 minute session. She was wonderful with me during it. As you all know, I'm a cf carrier. Two weeks ago I went to a specialist in Boston for my pancreatitis. It was a disappointing trip (except for visiting with a long-time friend) so when I got home I emailed him. To my surprise he called me on the phone on Friday night. Bottom line- in addition to the recommendations for my pancreatitis he said to get sweat tested and possibly further gene studies (thanks, n! you had mentioned it a while ago). So, I'll see my regular gastroenterologist next week and take it from there. I guess I should quit while I'm ahead before this gets too long. Guest guest
It's early evening in Hawaii but probably the middle of the night for many of you, so I'm wishing you a wonderful Thursday. Karyn, it's so good to see you post. We've missed you. And thank you for the kind words. Heidi, thank you so much for posting the article again. Somehow when I copied it to my word processor I didn't get the URL or the references at the end of the article, and that's what I wanted to have to authenticate it for my doctor. Thanks so much. I also appreciate the post about blurry eyes and diabetes. I've copied that to take to my doctor as well. I've had excellent eyesight all my life until just a couple of years ago (amazingly, when I first had problems with pancreatitis, what a coincidence!) and now need reading glasses for everything. Of course, I find myself saying, as I remember hearing my grandmother say, that they're making the print a lot smaller than they used to on packages. Because I work at the Legal Aid Society of Hawaii where we handle SSI and SSDI appeals, I wonder if any of you who need assistance in these matters have contacted your local Legal Aid Society. The types of law practiced may differ from state to state, and there are different programs in different areas. For example, in Hawaii if you are under 60 you must qualify based on household size and gross monthly income, but if you are over 60 you can be assisted no matter what income. So Seniors on Maui who have nice big pensions can still get free legal services. Just thought I'd mention it, especially since Legal Aid gets such a bum rap on TV lawyer shows. They're always dissing the Legal Aid defense attorney representing some horrible criminal. At the Legal Aid Society of Hawaii, we are never involved in criminal law - only civil matters. So thanks, guys, for letting me set the record straight and hopefully someone can benefit from calling Legal Aid. Aloha you all, Chris
