This was a contact letter that I thought I would share. This is how I'm

feeling about the surgery, and how I honestly feel about the whole decision

that I made. Here goes:I'm a critical care transport nurse from

Cincinnati,Ohio. I'm 36. Starting wt. 272/BMI 46. Comorbids of

hypertension, sleep apnea, and joint pain. Not to mention a baseline

tachypnea(even at rest). I had surgery 2/21/00.It took 45 min. ,I was walking

around my room w/in the first hour there, discharged 26 hours post op,spent 1

night in Durham(he wants a week now),and made it to Jazzercise 4 days

post-op. I now weigh 194,BMI 33, and no comorbids!!!! For me,like most this

surgery was to decrease my BMI,and my comorbidities. Ergo, the surgery has

already been a success! I am anticipating a 20 -30 lbs. of additional wt.

loss this year, but see anything from here out as a bonus! I'm already

attractive(to me),and am not going for super model! For me,this has been the

best health care decision I've ever made. I was able to reverse a lifetime of

health problems in 45 min. That's a miracle! I'm pleased with my outcome, and

look forward to a healthier lifestyle. I now enjoy aerobics(about 3-4 times

per week),whereas previously I dreaded it,and had incredible joint pain! I

feel I am the healthiest I've been in a long time. I feel I have far more

control over my body, and my life choices than ever! It's been very good for

me!

Good luck in your research!

Osler
