Guest guest
Hi Chrissy, Well, I think heidi has just about siad all the things (and more!) that I wanted to say. Careers are so important but healthhas to be more so. I think it is so wise of you now to take something a little less demanding physically. Your recovery to its absolute limits is the most important thing now in your life. You will be all the more understanding as a nurse (I know you already were!!) as you are having difficult issues to deal with yourself. In a minor way I have a little parallel. If I hadn't started having bad times again four of five years ago, I might well have gone for a headship. I got my deputy headship quite late in life (48) partly because I had a decade out to bring up my children and partly because I loved my previous school so much (I was was there from 1981 - 1994) that I didn't bother applying out for promotions until I just took it into my head to do so one day ten years ago! My Head is great in that we share ideas, he always listens and I have a very big influence on what happens in the school but it's obviously not quite the same as being the Head! When I retire I will always have that feeling that I might have pursued headship (not sure!!) if it hadn't been for the pancreatitis. My acute flare-ups were at their very worst in the 1980's and that also slowed down any major ambitions I might have had at the time. So I do understand how important career progression is. If you make sure all is as well as possible NOW, who knows what will happen in the future? You're young! I'm sure you will have ' support. Just read Heidi again! She's right! Take care Chrissy and enjoy life just now, Lots of love, Fliss (UK)
