Guest guest
Thanks! It doesn't seem that the nystatin is working, at least not yet. Guest guest
Hi Sharon :-) That thrush is nasty stuff. I hope the Nystatin starts working...soon! Since I'm on long-term antibiotics I have a tendancy to develop thrush, too. A couple of years ago my doctor put me on Nystatin (I think it was 4 pills per day....the 500,000 unit ones) and that seemed to clear it up, along with the acidophilus. Now a days, just to be on the safe side, I take 2 Nystatins per day, and my acidophilus at bedtime. Since my hospital visit I have had a re-visit of the thrush monster...probably due to several factors....the burst of pred they gave me right after surgery, including IV antibiotics right before surgery, coupled with not being able to take my regular regimen of Nystatin and acidophilus for a few days. To fight it, I upped my Nystatin to the 4 pills per day, and made sure I took extra acidophilus throughout the day. Even on the regular dose, Dr. Franco has me taking 4 acidophilus capsules per day, and these are the kind that are loaded (14 billion, I think) with the little organisms, like the Nutrition Now - PB8 brand that mentioned. (not all brands of acidophilus are effective and the better kinds need refridgeration from the time of manufacture to the time you bring them home from the store....the exception seems to be the PB8 brand, it doesn't require refridgeration.) You might find some suggestions on Dr. Mercola's website at www.mercola.com Try typing in " thrush " in the search ? Hope this helps, take care and lots of hugs, Connie H > > I have been taking acidophilus ever since Connie H > > told me about it. I take > > PB8 from " The Vitamin Shoppe " on line.
