Per Dr.R, it was an infected hematoma (just under the L side of the

diaphragm). He didn't believe it had gotten to the 'abcess' phase

(i.e., it was caught/treated early enough).

Sorry - I don't remember the IV antibiotic I was on. It seems like

it began with an " I " , but I can't find anything in the PDR. Perhaps

Dr.R can fill in this blank.

In a repeat chest xray ordered by my PCP - last Friday - the pleural

effusion had actually worsened. My PCP had me go in for a diagnostic

xray - one that would give a measure of the fluid in the lung. He

discussed the situation with Dr.R. They decided to give the lung one

more week to improve on its own. If not - then later this week, I

get to have it drained by needle! In the interim - I need to keep

track of my temp (if it spikes - it could mean an infection in the

effusate). Also, I'm supposed to stay upright, walk, breathe

deeply. I'm doing my part - I hope my body responds!

Kind regards,

Debbie

> Hi, I saw your post and I had a few questions if you will indulge

me. 1) What was the final diagnosis? 2) what was the IV

medication that you received? 3) Was the plueral effusion

resolved? Having had peri-carditis those pains are very familiar.
