Guest guest
I'm concerned about giving as balanced a diet as possible. We've had to move VERY slowly (started in July) and are seeing consistently good stool, but I'm afraid that we don't have enough variety. Aside from the pureed green beans, all of his vegetables are made in a protein (veggie meatballs, sneaky pancakes, etc.) I especially feel like he's eating a LOT of eggs with breakfast, eggs in sneaky pancakes, eggs in meatballs, eggs in icecream, eggs in chicken patties)Is it too much? He eats these foods daily with cheese crisps and cinnamin cookies just occasionally. The following is VERY typical (he literally eats this almost every day)of a full day's meals (all homemade or SCD legal)....are we o.k. or should we be making a serious effort to get more of something in? Breakfast 3 scrambled eggs with a whole zucchini (shredded and pre-sauteed in Safflower oil before scrambling with eggs, apple or pear sauce, diluted grape juice. am snack chicken patties made with pureed squash, egg, chicken jello water lunch boiled chicken cottage cheese (farmer's ch. with goat yogurt) pureed green beans veggie pancakes (squash, green bean, avocado) water pm snack grape or orange juice popscicle dinner veggie meatballs (made with either squash, avocado, green beans) with homemade ketchup apple or pear sauce yogurt (up to 2 tablespoons with honey and vanilla) small dish of egg white ice cream diluted o.j. Thanks! Leah mom of ASD, SCD since July
Guest guest
Leah, From what I can see, your son's diet is quite balanced. There are many kids that will only eat one type of thing but this seems pretty good to me. There may be others more experienced that might prove me wrong however. Hopefully they will chime in Charlene are we balanced enough? I'm concerned about giving as balanced a diet as possible. Guest guest
I agree with Charlene. This sample menu actually looks very healthy to me. I can understand that we parents always worry when our kids want the same thing all the time, but at least in this case, " the same thing " is a pretty good choice.
