Guest guest
As a reminder, I had approximately 95% of my pancreas removed last year after gallstone pancreatitis. To everyone's amazement, even my own, I still have some pancreatic function left. I am a diabetic now, but I still have some islet cells remaining and was able for the most part to manage with medication and insulin. I HAVE to take Pancrease, however,or I get horribly ill when I eat. Recently (the last four months or so)my blood sugar levels have been going crazy. I will just breathe the air and I have a reading of 300+. I have also had an increase in steatorrhea and fairly severe stomachaches after eating a higher in fat meal than usual. Do any of you notice that your blood sugar levels increase when you are having an attack? I saw my endocrinologist this morning, and he believes that I am having continued pancreatitis and that the little bit of pancreas I have left is just gradually failing. I sort of wish they had taken all of it out. I have no clue why they didn't. My stomach hurts so bad right now - my husband is out of town for the week and I have two young sons who don't stop needing me just because I don't feel well. I know you all can relate!!!
