Guest guest
I don't remember what day of SCD I'm on. Somewhere a little past two weeks, I believe. I tried some applesauce and avocado about a week into the diet, and my IBS-C is horrible. I don't even remember the last time I had a bm. Elaine's protocol doesn't work, and if I take Vit. C or Magnesium, my stomach burning gets ten times worse. I'm on Nystatin for yeast and that's not helping either. Any other ideas? I'm currently eating meat, cheese, eggs, and sipping grape juice. Please don't try and force me to try and eat fruits and veggies. Anytime I do, the IBS gets ten times worse so I'm obviously not ready for that yet. Sorry to sound so discouraged...... ~ Celiac, 34, Two weeks and something on SCD _________________________________________________________________ Windows Live Spaces is here! Guest guest
Well, ... I can't force you to eat anything. However, you aren't getting ANY fiber at all, so I can understand why you'd be contipated with what you're consuming.... <<I'm currently eating meat, cheese, eggs, and sipping grape juice.>> I honestly don't know what to say. I just think people on SCD have got to be eating *some* vegetables and fruits... if for no other reason, to get some much needed fiber. I think your current list of foods is so limited as to be downright dangerous. I don't know why Nystatin would be exected to help with constipation. Magnesium would probably be helpful for most people with constipation... but, obviously not if you can't tolerate it. Possibly, you could think about enemas?? I don't know... I have zero experience with that, but it just seems like you can tolerate so very little of anything taken by mouth. Maybe SCD just isn't for you? Patti IBS-C I don't remember what day of SCD I'm on. Guest guest
Hi , I also have IBS, mixed type. Since being on this diet for a little over a month it is so much better. I go every day now. I still have pain before I go but its not bad at all. I'm sorry you are so constipated. I was constipated for 3 days on my cruise.I was so bloated! I drank a large glass of prune juice mixed with hot water, the second day I had 2 glasses(kind of gross, but I forced it down),and the third day I had about 6 prunes before I finally went. I drank a lot of hot water as well. You might also try a small saline laxative. I have some leftover from a bowel prep I did for a sigmoidoscopy. It was not so bad.I did not have bad cramping with it. The inactive ingredient is sodium benzoate which is legal.I would hate to see you end up with a severe impaction. I hope this helps, June P.S. I had a bowel test through my Kaiser which came out negative. When I did a thorough stool test through Biohealth diagnostics I had 5 parasites/infections. I have been treated for all of them with good results. Maybe that would be worth looking into as well.Just a suggestion. JV > > I don't remember what day of SCD I'm on. Guest guest
Hi , > I don't remember what day of SCD I'm on. Somewhere a little past two weeks, > I believe. I tried some applesauce and avocado about a week into the diet, > and my IBS-C is horrible. 1. Was the applesauce homemade? 2. Did you eat the avocado raw? For a while I couldn't tolerate even ripe raw avocado so I mixed it with ground beef, ground chicken to make burgers and with eggs to make little patties. I was very low in potassium, So I ate lots of avocados. > I don't even remember the last time I had a bm. > Elaine's protocol doesn't work, and if I take Vit. If yes, you may want to pick up an enema etc. from the pharmacy/ or the doctor - you don't want to end up with an impaction. >I'm on Nystatin for yeast and that's > not helping either. 4. Does your Nystatin contain sugar - many prepartions do have a lot of illegals. I found that yeast overgrowth made me quite constipated. When I started antifungals the constipation got worse. > Any other ideas? I'm currently eating meat, cheese, eggs, and sipping grape > juice. Did you start with the intro diet and then try Elaines' constipation protocol? Sheila, SCD 2/01, UC 22yrs mom of and
