Guest guest
This process was discussed with me some time back. The basic theory behind it is that to follow stents would be a bit larger each time. They would be removed and replaced before clogging or scar tissue could develop. Each successive stent will have a slightly larger diameter and would then stretch the diameter of the sphincter and duct. The hope is that after several stents the sphincter and duct would remain stretched out with a wider diameter allowing the digestive enzymes to flow from the panc to the intestine upon hormonal command when chewing. This was discussed with me early on, but after my first ercp is was determined that it will not help me. There are some who feel that this is the most effective and least invasive technique for uncomplicated biliary strictures. I dont know anybody who has done it though. Anybody here perhaps? I would be interested to find somebody who had these and got some relief. I hope every body is doing well and has had a lovely weekend. Warmly.
