Guest guest
Hi All, I just wanted to share my excitement and update everyone on my experience with acupuncture and combination of therapies. I have idiopathic chronic pancreatitis. This is my regimen: MS contin 45 mg/day, protonix, benadryl, pancrease and acupuncture treatment 1x week. I also use a relief band as needed (works very well if you haven't tried it!) and am following low/fat, alkaline diet. The overwhelming nausea, weakness and pain were not what they were before the acupuncture treatments and pre-diet. Today, I am feeling like my pre-pancreatitis days. That is not to say I don't still feel nauseous at times, but just means that it hasn't knocked me off my feet in a few weeks. I work at a prominent research institution and I am surrounded by western medicine theories and practice. I was skeptical about chinese medicine, but I have to say acupuncture seems to work. The diet seemed odd at first but I am getting use to it. Here is the basic diet: low fat, all types of fish, no wheat products, nothing cold (not even water), no dairy, no white potatoes, no diet soda, some grains, rice, berries, pears and apples, no raw vegetables and all soy-based products. And most importantly--no sugar. In chinese medicine, sugar is probably worse for the spleen/pancreatitis than the fat, as explained to me by the acupuncturist. The sugar made sense once I thought about, but no one ever told me that I should not be eating sugar. I love sweets. No sweets and no diet soda were the hardest. I know that this might not always work for me, but for now it does and for that, I am grateful. I hope that by my sharing that this that it might help others.
