Guest guest
Well Hey Gang, I met with my PCP Dr. s here in Las Vegas today. I had another ear and sinus infection from using my CPCP for my Sleep Apnea. I had also spent about 30 hours this weekend from Friday til Sunday night researching my decision as to which Dr. I would use and what procedure I wanted. I made up my mind late last night and decided that Dr. R. was my choice. After many emails from many of you and from speaking on the phone with Trish and Pat here from Las Vegas, I felt this was the correct decision. And yes, as a self-pay, cost was a factor. Lets be honest, there is a big difference between Alvarado at 23,000 and Dr. R. at around 11,000. I presented all my printed material to Dr. s including the patient manual and the " paper " that Dr. R. presented to the ASBS. Dr. s surprised me with his complete support. We talked for almost 1/2 hour and and he told me that he felt that I had really researched the whole idea of a bypass and he was impressed with Dr. R's information. Dr. s said if I was sure I wanted this that since I was a self pay he could have all the tests done right then and there at his office. I felt, wow, this is really going to happen and it is happening starting right now! He gave me an exam, then the EKG then the blood, (they had to dig for veins, I guess at least I have thin veins). Then across the hall and I had my chest X-Ray done. 1,2,3 just like that. My head was spinning a little cause I though I had to get test order and go to the hosp. etc. all that, but they are a large clinic and they have all the things I needed in house. Dr. s is a kind man his wife also Dr. s works in the same clinic. He gives me 50% off of all my visits and today he gave me the same 50% off the test because I am self pay. Well I already know the EKG is ok. He said that he would have his letter of support ready with all the tests results by next Monday and that I should stop by for another consult. I told him about the choice between the Lap MGB and the Open or LAP RNY and provided him the documentation to support my decision. I asked him to let me know if he had any concerns about this procedure. I am lunching with Trish and Pat on Friday or as I usually say " getting together for a bite " ! Many thanks for everyones support. I will keep ya all posted. All my best, Elliott Stern Las Vegas, Nevada
