Guest guest
Dear Jen, It does seem that you've been waiting a long time for some help with this. I remember " way back when " when you were talking about going to Toronto for the stenting process, and still waiting to hear when that would be done. I'm sorry that everyone seems to be giving you the runaround. The remark by your Winnipeg doctor that if the stenting couldn't be done, then you don't have pancreatitis doesn't make sense to me. Perhaps I'm missing something, or there's something else that you didn't mention, but I just don't see how one has anything to do with the other.......or how one is conditional on the other! I've heard of several people that haven't been able to have successful stenting procedures done because of the extreme dilation or the small size of their ducts......but they still have pancreatitis. Am I missing something here? I wish I could offer an answer to your difficulties. In regard to the doctor in Toronto who was supposed to contact your Winnipeg doctor, all I can suggest is that you keep calling his office, bug the daylights out of them, until the doctor sends the report as promised. Since the Toronto doctor said that surgery would be the only option to access for stenting, what is the reasoning behind your Winnipeg doctor's refusal of surgery? When you talk with your doctor next, I would suggest that you impress upon him the importance to you to have this next MRCP done as soon as possible. Explain that your health is at risk due to the debilitating circumstances caused by your extreme pain, that you physically can't wait much longer, and can't function when you're doped up on morphine. Pain meds are a source of salvation for many of us, but not when the use of them keeps you so doped up that you're not able to participate in some normal activities and have some regular functioning abilities. Good luck with all of this, Jen. I know the wait must be terrible, and having to wait and not hear anything while you're experiencing bad pain makes it just that much harder. I hope you hear some good news soon. With love, hope and prayers, Heidi Heidi H. Griffeth South Carolina SC & SE Regional Rep.
