Guest guest
Hi everyone, This is my baby's third day on the Doc Band and we found that he kept rubbing his head on the right side (vigorously) all the time. We saw that it was a little red on the previous days but today it was a very angry red, with something very sticky next to his right ear area and top part of his ear lobe is very red. Even after a bath, the area next to his top earlobe was still sticky and he was distressed when we touched it with gauze or a towel. Also, his helmet on that side, near his right ear had yellow pus on it. We were wondering if anyone has experienced this? Our CT is closed until Monday. Thanks! Guest guest
You'll have to keep the band off until Monday. Don't worry about the time out of the band - it will be worse if this sore gets infected etc. Let it heal properly, and make sure the fit it good. You don't want him to be in pain. He'll be in the band for several months most likely, so a few days now is no big deal in the scheme of things. These things always happen when the office is closed :-) -christine sydney, almost 3 yrs, starband grad > > Hi everyone, > > This is my baby's third day on the Doc Band and we found that he kept > rubbing his head on the right side (vigorously) all the time. Guest guest
Thanks , that's exactly what we did. Just in case anyone else has this problem, (it can be very upsetting esp. when your baby is in so much pain) here is what happened: when we went to CT, we were told it was due to the yeast in his sweat along with the constant rubbing that made it turn to yellow pus. We kept it off until it healed and just had scabs (5 days) and had the Doc Band shaved off a little for a better fit around his right ear area. We also now take off his Band every hour to dry off the sweat on his head and try very hard to keep him cool--a short sleeved onesie, no heat, and no blankets--we live in Socal and at night it's usually in the 50's to 60's. > > > > Hi everyone, > > > > This is my baby's third day on the Doc Band and we found that he kept > > rubbing his head on the right side (vigorously) all the time.
