Today was our 3 month check up and scan. Our son Ben (9 months next

week) has been in a Starband since Oct 2. He is now at 4mm and the

tech gave us the option of being done. While his head is not totally

round, it's a big improvement and is now within normal limits. Ben is

also more mobile now (crawling, standing, doesn't sleep on his back at

all), so the tech feels the part that is still a little flat will

round out on it's own. He said we could do one more month if we

wanted. It was up to us. I feel torn on what to do!! He did not have

much growth from last month to this month. The tech said he likely

wouldn't grow much this next month either. We love our tech and think

he's great... very honest, etc. I just wish he had made the decision

and not left it up to us!! LOL

Here's a link to his scan - the red line is his first scan, the blue

line is today's. His ears are still a little off, but the tech said

that may not correct anyways. He said the ears are usually last to

correct and often they don't correct much if at all at this point.

Carey,

For whatever reason, I cannot see the picture of Ben that you posted in the B album. Am I the only one?

Carey,

Just the fact that you are asking means you have some doubt.

I think you should stick it out one more month. That way

you'll really feel you did all you could. Even if it doesn't

improve, 4mm is great! We are just starting (going to

get the Starband on the 5th) and hoping to go down to

4mm from 10. Our son will be one week shy of 6 mos.

and I hope we can be done in 3 or 4 months too!

My daughter had a big growth spurt between 8.5 mo and 10 mo, so you

still may get more correction. She was scanned on those 2 visits and

got 2% more correction for her brachy.

Also your son's cranial ratio is a little high - almost 90% (that is

the brachy number). Can that be reduced at all? Our doctor liked to

band at 90% or higher. You might want to talk to your ortho to see if

that can be reduced. My daughter was quite high (96%) but got down to

about 85%. With a high number the head is wider than normal.
