Guest guest
Hi all, I am like many working on my packet, insurance, etc., and I thought I would share with you a part of my conversation with a person in my ins. company's pre-approval dept. I obtained the section of the corporate medical policy that explained when surgery for morbid obesity is covered and part of the criteria was of course that you must have some proof that non-surgical methods of weight reduction under a physician's supervision have failed. I have a poop-load of info. in my medical records where I have continually asked for help to loose weight. I have of course been on some of the drugs and there is evidence of that in my chart. I was sort of concerned that maybe that wasn't enough because some of the things that I have been put on by the doc's were Craig, Weight Watchers, etc. So I called the insurance company to see if these were also acceptable forms of proof for methods I've tried to loose weight over the past 5 years(my ins. requirement) and they said yes. So I have called the nutritionist I've been to see, Craig, the Wellness Center I belonged to etc., and all had copies of my files, some dating back to more than five years ago!!!!! These files contain weekly weigh-ins, diet strategies, etc., that are proof of some of the methods I've tried. I didn't know if anyone else has done this or thought about doing it but I figured anything that could possibly help get me approved the first time out would help. Hope someone could use this info.(The ins. company might be getting a 50 lb box of paper work before I'm done but I'm on a mission. NO STONE WILL GO UNTURNED!!!) hehe Price
