Guest guest
Hi there, WE too decided to home school because of our son getting into things that made him sick and his behavior worse. The school he was going to was not at all helpful! It was impossible to keep him out of the stuff unless we did this. Kids are too young to understand. Plus, what we are telling them to not eat is so addictive. We home school through COVA (Colorado Virtual Academy). It is completely funded by the state. Most the supplies, computer, printer and the entire curriculum, plus outside teacher support is FREE. They offer many fun outside activities for socialization. They even do IEP's, and out side therapy if you need it. Plus, as parents you are accountable for all the testing that public school kids have to take. Keeping the child on target with the rest of the world. All offered by the state....again...all FREE. I don't know if your state has this program but I would find out. I would recommend COVA to any one in my state! This has been a wonderful opportunity to keep him healthy and 100% SCD.....plus still get a GREAT EDUCATION! I have found it a bit funny and disturbing that we can keep him on target with his work, and only spend a fraction of the time that he would be at school, if he was going to the public school! With this program, you can go at your own pace too. If a child is having problems...you can go slow. If your child has a gift...you can go fast. They are allowing our son to do 2nd grade math, because this is his gift. For his delays, he received his IEP and is getting outside help and speech therapy. We couldn't ask for more. Hope this helps you, Antoinette and (cd) parents to -5 (cd/past adhd/a bit aspie) (SCD 2/06)
