Dear Jen,

It is so hard living like this. WE have become the " joke " of the block with

some. They know that we are serious tough. So they respect us....but I too,

have heard from the " grape vine " that things that are hurtful have been said

behind our backs.

This way of eating is so baffling to others. I have to admit that two years

ago, before God blessed me with these kids, that I too would have thought a

parent like me, a bit nuts to do this. We are true Elaine fanatics....this

makes us stand out sometimes even on this list serve!

We get little if any validation from family. My mother and father in law make a

mockery of this! They don't even try to give us respect. Most doctors roll

there eyes. Most therapist and even the evaluators from or district, who had to

evaluate Kiki rolled their eyes. They even sent in a psychologist and dietician

and they informed the county. A social worker came to my house, because they

suspected that I was " starving " my kids to death since we took all grain,

starch and sugar out of their diet. Kiki did not look that well at this

evaluation. WE had just started SCD. Much improvement, but they couldn't see

this. They do not live with her! Thank goodness our DAN! was able to write a

letter in the nick of time and stopped this BS! All of a sudden, I was told:

" you appear to be the best parent at this time for her " ....my mouth dropped to

the floor....where they thinking of taking her????????????????? My GOD! Be

careful who you talk to! It may be easier to call this allergy, when talking to

the ignorant.

Since then, our pediatrician is supporting us too. She has witnessed our

" anecdotal evidence " personally with our family. Very impressed. She jokes

about trying this to loose weight. So slowly people are getting this.

Like you, WE ARE THE PIONEERS...no doubt. WE HAVE TO STAY STRONG! Continue

sharing with others, but be careful what you say......you will not only save

your child...you will save someone elses child. Only those who are desperate do

this....you no doubt will reach someone....who will not roll their eyes...and

this solution will make since!

Hang in there. Hang on to your truth! Home school, discover a " home school "

support group in your area to get socialization ideas...and enjoy life! Thanks

SCDers in your area. This could help you to not feel so isolated. So many like

us!
