Guest guest
LISA, Your daughter sounds alot like my son. He is four now. We started the diet back in mid august, basically to help with speech and eye contact, as he was all of the sudden losing those skills.I understand where you are coming from. My son didnt eat for a few days after starting either. I swore to Patti that I would never get this kid to eat any cooked fruits at all. We also had SEVERE DIE OFF that lasted at least two weeks. By day 4 or 5 he broke down and ate a popsicle for me (cooked fruit frozen) No t really intro food but I like you was deperate. the next day, out of the clear blue he ate chicken soup....he has SEVERE food issues too...MASSIVE gag reflex at the sight of certain foods. He continued to eat chicken soup. it was almost like when you have a cold and thatss all you want to eat. I saw my son lay around, drink only water, get a slight fever, have diarreah-bAD smelling, all from the die off reaction. Your right, they tell you in the book there is a die off reaction, but they dont say it can be BAD, REALLY BAD.I found a book that has one moms recollection of initial die off, and how she thought she was losing her mind...Its sounds like you are there...I was too. I posted to these guys every day...and every day I got at least 4 to 5 replies. the most help I got ever starting anything. My husband was planning to walk out, and I am 5 mos pregnant, but somehow I believed in this and I am glad I did...It really is amazing. He is eating and not gagging on foods he would NEVER eat. I can help you if youd like, I am relatively new to this, but I know how bad it is..REALLY. I cried every day for 2 weeks. In fact, we just went thru our 3 month die off. Just as fun as the first, but it was mostly behavioral in nature. Yesterday he started coming out of it. Eating like a fiend(this is what hapens after die off...your kid may eat like you have never seen before, and foods (S)he wouldnt touch. He is also TALKING to us much more than ever. He asked me You buy this for me mom? My son has never used more than 2 to 3 words at a time. My son also went thru a period of heightened sensory awareness-NO CLOTHES ON but PAJAMAS. Thats over for now too. As for poop smearing, I know I went thru a period of this, around age 2. I know they sell jumpsuits to " hinder this " We Used overalls with tough snaps and let him throw a fit. He hated the overalls sooo much that it helped stop the behavior.I dont know if if this is feasable for you. The Name of the book with the SCD info in it is called AUTISM-Effective Biomedical treatments Have we done everything we can for this Child? By two DAN drs Dr. Jon Pangborn PHD and DR.Sidney Macdonald Baker. The thing that set the light bulb off for me was a quote in the book by one of these docs " SCD is one of the best treatments I have found so far for many children on the autism spectrum. " I believe in this diet, I believe in this statement and most of all I believe that My son can get better.I have had a lot of help from this group, and I thank god for all of them every day!! I will do everything I can to help, i fI dont know, I will direct you to a veteran like Patti or Grammy Bauer. God bless you in this very difficult time. My thoughts are with you.
