Guest guest
Hello everyone, My name is VanderPan I apoligize for not posting a note sooner but my computer had crashed a few times now I have bought a new one. I have had chronic pancreatitis, and had the TP/ICT by Dr. Sutherland on November 24th 2003. This is possibly the best decision I could have ever made. The recovery has been long, I still have some lingering issues such as dumping syndrome with stetorrhea ( Not sure with that spelling) and still have some pain. However I believe that my everyday pain has been reduced 50%. Thank Goodness!!! They were able to transplant 250,000 of my islets, I was in surgery for 11 hours. My appendix was removed as well as part of my stomach. My spleen was saved but I think they will be taking it out soon. I am Diabetic but it seems to be controlled with a dose of lantus at bedtime, and humalog on a sliding scale. Pretty good for not having a pancreas at all right? I had a few small complications in the hospital following surgery but everyone there was wonderful and very attentive . Keri Beck was in the hospital same time as myself, I was able to meet her hoping she will send an e mail letting me know how she is doing and if her recovery is going well. Jean also called me at the hospital, im sorry i was not able to speak with you daughter and lost contact with you as well. Would love an e mail from you. I do not have your personal web address,Could you send again? To anyone who is interested this surgery I believe saved my life..... Im sure a lot of you can relate when I say you really want to give up on living. My life consisted of laying in bed or on a couch in pain with no energy depressed and feeling alone. If Dr. Sutherland can help you i recommend doing this surgery to anyone in that kind of pain. The constant nausea and vomiting. Trying to hold your head high and telling everyone you are ok when on the inside your falling apart. I was to the point of no longer being able to hide it , or deal with it any longer. Now PLEASE understand this surgery is not 100% and I am not Either, but i believe in what i have done and it has helped. I would not want any one to suffer with this disease like myself and so many of you are doing. This surgery can be of help you wont be perfect but IT DOES help. It is not a cure, or a answer for everyone. This has just been my personal experience. Explore your possibilities. if anyone has any questions please email me I would love to talk to you. I would also like to talk with someone who has done this and ask a few questions myself. Regarding the dumping syndrome and lingering pain. I hope this answers a few questions but dont hesitate to write me Thanks everyone,
