Guest guest
I thought I would post this information for anyone that has had compications from taking over-the-counter (OTC) nonsteroidal anti- inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). There is a contact name and number below if you are interested in sharing your story. Debbie/CA. Here is the information: Members, we need your participation! Emergency Nurses Assocuation (ENA), in partnership with the American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP), is helping to raise public awareness about a very important issue through a large-scale national campaign which launches in June. Guest guest
hi teresa over the years i was tried on oxycontin and durgestic patch switching between the two and i now stick to the patch 75mcg change every 3 days and i find that keeps things quiet than for breakthrough pain i have daludid 2mg .. hope this helps many blessings and a pain free day Could any of you tell me what pain medications you're taking and if its helping you or not.. Is anyone taking Lortab, Morphine, Tramadol, any type of arthritis medication.. is you had rather not for some reason rather not say on the open board you could email me at topdat1 (AT) bellsouth (DOT) net.. This is pretty much for my information.. I was placed on a very strong medication last week, number one: its didn't really work the first couple of nights, I was up and down walking the floors.. I had been on a different tablet for 8 years and it had gotten to where is wasn't working at all.. So, I'd like to know what your opinions are on the pain medication you are taking.. The name of the medication, the amount, and if its holding your pain rating from a 1 not working to a 10 I am extremely happy with the pain medication and does it really stop your pain.. Guest guest
I've been on Tramadol for the last 12 years 24/7....and it's just barely touching the pain. I have a narcotic on hand for really bad breakthrough pain but it knocks me out. I also need a change in meds but I don't have the heart to pursue it right now.Life may not always be the party we hoped for, but while we're here we might as well dance! Guest guest
I take 45mg Avinza (time released morphine) in the morning for my long acting meds, and then Actiq suckers (Fentanyl sucker which goes through the oral mucous membranes for faster absorption) for BT pain. I also take 900 mg of Neurontin 3x/day, 15mg of Topamax in the morning and 45 at bedtime, 25mg Pamelor at bedtime, and 4-8 mg of Zanaflex depending on how bad the pain is when I go to bed. That cocktail was keeping me at a tolerable 4ish, with spikes around 6-7 which the Actiq does manage to get back down. On a good day I need only 3/4 to 1 whole sucker. On a bad day, I need 2 suckers for BT pain. I have a great pain mgmt doc who is willing to work with me and tweak meds as necessary. Guest guest
, your body has probably built up a tolerance for Tramadol. Do you have family or friends who can help you with this? Call your doctor & advocate for you? Ramblin' RoseModerator A merry heart is good medicine. Guest guest
Thanks to all of you who answered my question regarding pain medication, I've just recently been changed to MS Contin the long acting 25mcg every 12 hours.. I was afraid I was totally outside the box with this drug, I've been on Lortab for 8 years and it just wasn't holding my comfort level till time for the next time for the medication.. You guys, have set my mind at ease, and I thank you all that took the time to give me some answers.. Thank you all again.. Guest guest
Rose. not really. My hubby and sons are in denial and, like many men, don't want to face reality when it comes to my illness. I usually have to handle all things sarc related by myself. My husband has Aspergers and it is so totally beyond him to help me with this. Maybe that's why it's so hard on me but why I do rely on support groups a lot. I have been putting off any doctor appts. It's hard to do the work involved with my health when I feel like crap. I've only gotten dressed and left the house four or five times this year and three of those times was to go to the clinic. After 12 years of doctor appts., tests, meds, etc. I am sick to death of the endless routine and getting such lame results. Advocacy for me would be nice but there's no one on my 'team' right now. ....just little(ha!) ole me. Wish you lived closer to me...you could go with me and kick some arse. lol hugs S.Life may not always be the party we hoped for, but while we're here we might as well dance! Guest guest
Oh, man, , I wish I could be there. I don't know how you can cope without a support system. The online support is wonderful, but you need someone to help you list your concerns, make the call if you can't get it done, go with you & check off the questions & block the door so the sucker can't escape until you are both satisfied. Have you ever attended a local church? If so, maybe someone from the church would agree to help. It doesn't matter if you haven't attended in a long time. I'll pray that you will find someone (or someone will find you) to help you in these practical matters. Now a personal question: depending on your age, you might qualify for senior assistance, which could include an advocate. Ramblin' RoseModerator A merry heart is good medicine.
