Dear Angieskim: That is wonderful to hear. What I'd like to know more of is how

it went for you in recovering your son - what other interventions you used, how

SCD helped, etc. Did you do it strictly for 2 years? What else seemed to help?

Any info is appreciated!

He has been symptom-free for 1 yr (as confirmed by a totally clean

scope 9 mos ago) and he's also pretty much recovered, so I'm going to

SLOWLY wean him off the diet (but still be GFCF). Are there any

guidelines/suggestions for how to wean off the diet? Any particular

types of starches to introduce first? Anything to watch out for?

Thanks,

Angie

Carol ( & others): Thanks. I read the section about introducing 1

food per week. I guess I was also wondering which types of foods

would be safest to start with? I was thinking something like sweet

potatoes, amaranth flour, quinoa, maybe rice? I will definitely

always avoid refined sugars & junk flours, etc. forever!

Thanks,

Angie

: We were VERY strict on all dietary stuff -- I was more than a

little paranoid, and used separate microwaves, toasters, and

dishware/cookware to avoid even the slightest bit of

cross-contamination with non-SCD/GFCFSF foods. I think our biggest

interventions have been chelation, HBOT, dietary (not sure about SCD

or GF -- biggest gain was when we first went CF), gut bug RXs

(especially vancomycin for clostridia), and LDN. My son still has

some attention issues (he gets spacy when he's tired or when he's in a

large group) -- we're actually switching over to the Yasko protocol,

and have seen great social gains with that. We found out through

genetic testing that he can't detox ammonia very well, and his amino

acids testing revealed that he is VERY high in ammonia, so we're

avoiding a high-protein diet. This is what also is prompting my need

to introduce some starches. He's just so hungry all the time!

Anyway, I'm hoping that HBOT & the Yasko protocol will take him even

farther than he's come.

Thanks for your support,

Angie
