Marilyn et al, do please vent. I think we can all

relate to this feeling. However, I have to admit that

I have done much better since I " allowed " myself to

give in to pain, and take painkillers. I was brought

up (as I am sure many of you were) that " weak " people

take pills, and " keep a stiff upper lip " and " be

brave " . My mother would not let me take Panadol

(Tylenol) for menstrual cramps - which were horrible

when I was a teenager, accompanied by vomiting. She

said this was something women have to put up with,

WHY? I don't think it makes me a better person

putting up with pain! In fact I know it makes me

downright badtempered and unpleasant to be with!!!

Also if you are coming down on pred you are ALREADY

feeling like this! Lol. If I haven't get anything

from the doc I take Aleve for pain, which although it

may not get rid of the pain it takes the edge off it.

(Plus something to protect the stomach!)

I feel the same way about antidepressants. I was anti

them for years. Now I think it is OK to take them

when necessary. I have not turned into a drug addict

or anything. (I don't think...)

Having said all that I have to whinge a little - at my

Pilates class the other day I pulled a muscle in my

thigh. If I move my leg the wrong way I get this

EXPLOSION of pain in my groin, shooting down to my

knee. It really is agonising. I am icing it and

heating it alternately (stuffing down the

painkillers!) and trying to keep moving, i.e. walking

or rather shuffling. No more pilates for a while. I

am SOOOO cross.

But seriously people, don't suffer too much

uneccessarily. We do suffer from chronic pain, and it

is OK to get relief some of the time. Hope everyone

feels better. Love Liz
