Guest guest
Hi all, My quick History : Since late December 2003, I started having " stomach pains " and after a visit to my GP was diagnosed as having bad bacteria in my stomach. A weeks antibiotics didn't help, so over the next couple of months I had various tests done to check out my digestive system. During January one day I was in so much pain that I was taken to Hospital. There after blood tests and rest I was sent home as " I was feeling better " and no scans were performed. Since then I have only had abdominal ultrasound scans which showed very little. The tests up the back passage proved clear and the camera down the throat showed a small area of Baretts only. However whilst recenetly on holiday to California my pains came back with a vengence and after suffering a couple of episodes, took myself to the Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital, Valencia, California, where within a few hours they diagnosed Acute Pancreatitis. My pancreas was imflamed and swollen and my Lipase test was at 1241. I was released after 4 days of IVs, after I was back onto solid foods. I am now off work for 2 weeks and await further tests in the UK to try to see what is causing my condition. It is a scary time as I know very little about the disease and what the future may hold. I am a 40 year old male.
