Guest guest
Fliss - Normal age in the US is 65 - when our govt. supplement kicks in. Many who have worked their whole lives can retire early due to private industry retirement benefits. I stayed home and raised my three children, therefore I started my teaching career late. In most states here in the US, educators must have 80 points to retire with full benefits. I will be 62 when I achieve 80 points due to only having 7 years of service to date. Many of my colleagues can retire in their early 50s using this formula if they have worked since college - age 21+. I am envious, but know staying home with my children was a very good thing.
