Guest guest
Hi Kris, I know what you mean about being worn down by the pain. By last October, when those horrible upp-abdominal pancreatic pains were really attacking me frequently and severely again, I walked out of school and thought I would simply have to resign. I just couldn't stand the frequency of the attacks. They weren't as severe as when I was a child and adolescent but then they came only once or twice a year for about a week at a time. I learnt to struggle through them somehow, despite having no pain meds! I knew they would end and then I would feel fine again. When the pains were coming every few days or most weeks for a couple of days, I just felt that I couldn't go on any more. I have been lucky in that the Creon/low-fat and no- alcohol-at-all diet does seem to have helped me from all points of view. When you get real relief for a time, you can face the pain when it comes. But take heart. You speak about having been " in a cycle " for a couple of months. This disease does often seem to go through different stages of development and different cycles. Hopefully you'll soon move into a more bearable pattern and be able to manage your symptoms better. You are fortunate in having an excellent doc. I wish you relief and better health asap. Do you have the link for the coeliac support group? With very good wishes, Fliss (UK)
