Karyn, Believe it or not, that's probably because a lot of physician's advocate a glass of red wine before bed. It apparently does something helpful for type 2's, particularly, but I couldn't tell you what. Lowers cholesterol levels or something heart-related, I think. They are frequently discussing this on the diabetic support site that I belong to, but since I don't consume any alcohol, I've never paid due attention to what the benefits are supposed to be. While it may be medically beneficial for them, it sure wouldn't be for me! And there are always those people that have to have a beer or two. I know this isn't advised, but people do it anyway, even diabetics, and since the beer or wine does contain sugar, keeping record of it would be necessary. To each his own (smile). BTW, I also use an Ultra Smart One Touch and am most happy with it's features and the support from Lifescan.
