Guest guest
Anyone have experience with Hanger Prosthetics and Orthotics in San Francisco, CA (Geary Street)? My 7 month old has her first appt. there on Tuesday(11/10/09) She has mild/moderate plagiocephaly and needs a cranial molding helmet. This is the only place our insurance covers but we were referred to UCSF Orthotics. Just wanted to get some feedback on Hanger Helmets, so I can decide if it is worth paying out of pocket to go to UCSF (where I believe they use the StarBand.) I know that most people dont seem to pick Hanger as their first choice but thats who our craniel surgeon reccomended, and Im glad that he did. has been in his helmet for three months now and has gone from 102% down to a 91%, with the goal being to get as close to 80% as we can.His head is looking wonderful after three months of treatment. I cant speak for your Hanger provider because we are in New York, but I personally believe that the success of treatment has more to do with the experience of the orthotist than the actual appliance. Just my opinion, good luck :-) Jessie - 9 months
Guest guest
I think most people in the SF area have used CIRS in Palo Alto or Oakland for a starband. I don't know if UCSF is more recent, but I've only heard of it a few times, and don't know their reputation. I haven't heard of others getting a hanger band in SF. My daughter got her band about 3 yrs ago in Palo Alto and we had a good experience. -christine sydney, 3.5 yrs, starband grad > > Anyone have experience with Hanger Prosthetics and Orthotics in San Francisco, CA (Geary Street)?
