Guest guest
so I have noticed the last 2 days that my son is developing a ridge in his head where the hole is in the top of his helmet...and its not going away when the helmet is off... its like his head is growing up through the top...I asked the ortho about it and she said that does not happen very often but that she can adjust the helmet for that, we will see her tomorow....it does not seem too tight but now I am wondering if the fit is good or not??? don't want him to grow a muffin top head! any one have this kind of thing happen?? le mom to 6 mos
Guest guest
Please take the helmet off! It happened to my friend with a Hanger band that was too small (needed adjustment). The head shouldn't grow up through the top - that means there isn't room elsewere. Let us know what the ortho says when you go in. -christine sydney, 3.5 yrs, starband grad > > so I have noticed the last 2 days that my son is developing a ridge in his head where the hole is in the top of his helmet...and its not going away when the helmet is off... its like his head is growing up through the top...I asked the ortho about it and she said that does not happen very often but that she can adjust the helmet for that, we will see her tomorow....it does not seem too tight but now I am wondering if the fit is good or not??? don't want him to grow a muffin top head! any one have this kind of thing happen?? > > le > mom to 6 mos >
Guest guest
well that concerns me because he has only been in the helmet for just over a week! when I spoke to the ortho yesterday she said to keep the helmet on and that she would adjust the helmet for the growth on top....does this sound OK?? do you think I need to ask for a new helmet ,that it is actually too small?? will he be able to wear this to complete his treatment?? I think she said he ay need it for about 12 weeks! I'm not really sure what to think or what to ask for . I had thought it was fitting well until now. yes, it is a Hanger band btw Thanks for the advice!! le mom to 6mos > > This happened at the end of my babies treatment. We had already decided we were pleased with the results and ready to graduate. And the ortho said she was growing out of the band. So in our case we stopped and graduated, She had been banded for 12 weeks. > > Angie > has this happened to anyone?? > > > > so I have noticed the last 2 days that my son is developing a ridge in his head where the hole is in the top of his helmet...and its not going away when the helmet is off... its like his head is growing up through the top...I asked the ortho about it and she said that does not happen very often but that she can adjust the helmet for that, we will see her tomorow....it does not seem too tight but now I am wondering if the fit is good or not??? don't want him to grow a muffin top head! any one have this kind of thing happen?? > > le > mom to 6 mos >
Guest guest
I would insist on getting it adjusted in the next day or two. If there is a ridge there is too much pressure at the opening, and that is why it is shaping the head. You don't need another problem to correct (smoothing out this ridge). -christine sydney, 3.5 yrs, starband grad > > > > This happened at the end of my babies treatment.
