Guest guest
Kris- hi! I feel like I can relate to you so much with your symptoms, I look forward to your posts! I am interested to know hat are you currently using for pain? My pancreas doc referred to my reg doc (who is an internist) that I should see a pain doc. lol funny! Anyways I felt I received great care from my pain doc because of his relationship with my reg doc. They both esteemed each other and trusted each others care and advice based on MY concerns. He was very useful to me in helping me understand pain management and your body's reaction to pain (and that it wasn't all in my head!) He also was extremely knowledgeable about cp as he said he researches it all the time to better help his patients. After hearing what he had to say I was elated to know that his thoughts matched what I have researched and the thoughts of those on the board here. He is recommending the duragesic patch and also a anti-inflammatory. My panc doc did recommed a nerve block, but I didn't feel comfortable going to that step yet, and actually my pain doc said after all the research he finds it only works in about 50% of the patients and not every time. He said though that is his expertise (nerve blocks) for chronic idiopathic the statistics and risk out weigh the possibility. He use to do them, but with the research he has done he only does them with cancer panc patients and as last resort per patient request. I am excited to try the duragesic patch because I hate when I wake up in the mornings feeling terrible then have to play catch up on my pain meds again. wishing you the best of luck, Angie B
