Guest guest
Hello everyone. my son is 27 months old, been on scd 11 months, diagnosed with PDD on the Autism spectrum. He is doing well but is SO SKINNY, his pants just fall off him. Has anyone tried the Zyme Prime (capsules, NO papain/bromelain/rice bran)? Does it work with the SCD diet? Does it do any damage to the intestines? Can I add things like potatoes and such to his diet? Can long chain carbs get digested? Is it useful? Too harsh? his stools have been traditionally loose. In the past they were 2 or more colors but now are going more towards singularly brown. I will be changing his magnesium to Magnesium Glycinate to help stop the loose stools. If I give him the Zyme Prime, do you think it would put a few pounds on him? thank you. , mom to broderick, SCD 11 months, PDD
Guest guest
thanks for the reply. I do give him avocado when I have it, can't always find a good one. so basically you are saying that a potato or something will still have the negative effect (stimming) whether or not I add an enzyme. Correct? I just don't want to see him so thin. He doesn't eat much anyway so I was thinking if I could add in some fattening types of food it would help. There is a very limited space in his tummy. I hope that changing the magnesium will help. thanks. > > , > > The Zyme-Prime enzymes are legal on SCD. I can't say whether they will help him gain weight or not. I have used them in the past with my daughter but she did not have the same issues. > > If you add potatoes or other illegal foods, then he will no longer be on SCD. Going off SCD is up to you.... but just know that you can't add enzymes and potatoes and still be on the diet. Enzymes or not, SCD is SCD. > > If you've been giving him magnesium oxide or citrate, both of those are pretty laxative.... so going with the glycinate is a good idea. > > Are you using avocado?
