Guest guest
Hi Tarri: I believe in Dr. R's manual and discharge instructions it says to take 1 vitamin 3 x a day. That is the way I have taken mine from the beginning. I know what you mean about feeling like you have eaten a meal after taking the horse pills. Try eating after taking a vitamin, an Actigall, Fish Oil and 2 bran tablets. Forget it. Pam Mc from land
Guest guest
Wooo. Good question, let me know what you find about the shot. Possible Pre Op, Robin from Ohio vitamins >Hello Group, >Last week I asked a question regarding the vitamins. I don't know if my post didn't come through or what. Is it okay to take all three vitamins at the same time in the morning? Also, someone posted about inquiring of Dr. R. re: vitamin shots that would only have to be once a month or so. Don't get me wrong, I don't have a problem with taking them other than they are the size of horse pills and by the time I take three with the water or juice to wash them down I feel like I have had a meal. >Thanks, >Tarri in Missouri >MGB 09-29-00 >329/290 > > >
Guest guest
> If you have your child on Kirkman's NuThera, that " counts " as the > multivitamin. Am I correct in that? Anyone give additional multi vit? > Janelle *** Well, yes and no. I add some zinc at night, plus more folic acid with my son's DMG, and Calcium & magnesium Of course, these are minerals). It depends also on the child's needs. So yes, the multi is a good choice, but always look at what the child needs, if he may be more deficient of certain things, otherwise just the SNT is fine, I believe .. Some give extra vit C and A (CLO). I think it is a personal choice, maybe other will advise better since I am not doing this. *** Cristina-WA

A pregnant mother needs more than the normal amounts of vitamins during pregnancy and those who malabsorb need a boost here too. If your insurance pays for it then prescription might be better to get it paid for...... Judie
Guest guest
I asked my nurse at Dr. Rabkin's office this question as I am checking into insurance and my Rx vitamins may not be covered. She said that they tested patients that were taking each and that there is really no difference. The main difference is compliance. Take them daily and any OTC vitamin should be fine. She did say that if you are a menstruating woman should take some iron as well as the calcium. Machelle
Guest guest
* , LJ (my son) only takes a basic vitamin and has been GFCF for 19 1/2 months so far and all is fine. He gets complete blood work done at the peds. office and everything is fine. His eating habits are great though and he eats a VAST variety of foods, so I am sure all he needs is being met with the foods he consumes with his meals. I don't give anything other then a multi-vit. Guest guest
Fat soluable vitamins like Vitamin A will stay in your system and can reach a toxic level.
Guest guest
Some flush, some don't. Too much what? Calcium carbonate builds kidney stones, citrate doesn't. Iron CAN build up in a few of us, but well under 1%. Generally RNY/BPD types run low. A can be toxic, so can D. The B's are the ones known to be " pee'd out " , usually. Guest guest
Hello everyone, Shaelin had his PICC line removed finally. We spent 1 week in the hospital and the other 2 1/2 weeks home with IV antibiotics. He did well and seems fine for the moment. We have a follow-up with ENT next week as his problem is mostly in his sinuses verses his lungs. His stools remained great though this with my continuing the probiotic Flora Bears. We had our annual follow-up with the nutritionist last week and weight-wise, Shaelin is doing great. He is between the 50th to 75% (he was only in the 3rd percentile when we got him as a foster child at 6 months!). She recommended however that in addition to ADEK, he should receive weekly additional vitamin K along with a children's multiple vitamin 3x/week. Are any of you doing this and if so, is there a particular vitamin which is better than others. It would need to be chewable as he is only 2 1/2. Thanks in advance for your advice.
