Guest guest
PICNIC INFORMATION This will be posted 2ce a day until Saturday. Please tell as many MGBers, especially non-internet users, that you know. Lake Crabtree kicked us out (contract was only for 100 and they threated me with the Sheriff if we showed with 160-200 folkss - ok, I get the hint) and we are now having the picnic, same time and same day - this Saturday, 30 September, at Falls Lake Beaverdam Recreation area, Shelter 24. NOW: We will be at the Beaverdam location, Shelter 24. PARKING is $4.00 per car (another reason to car pool). The best was to get there is off Creedmore Rd. (NC route 50) Westbound from before Raleigh) Go I-40E to the 440 Beltline (towards Sanford). Exit at the Glenwood St. (US70)/Crabtree Valley Mall exit. Turn left off of the ramp on to Glenwood. Get in the right hand lane and turn right on to Creedmore Rd./NC 50 North. LANDMARK LOCATOR: Creedmore is the light at the end of the mall...There will be a Circut City on the right just on the other side of Creedmore Rd. Proceed north on 50/Creedmore Rd. for roughly 14 (yes, 14) miles. On the right will be a sign for " Beaver Dam State Recreation Area " . Turn right at that road. Turn right at the first right after the entrance station. There is plenty of parking in several lots there. The picnic shelters are in a circle where the parking is. We are PS-24. East bound from the Durham area. Go I-85 N to 70 East and then take NC98 East to NC50 North. Take NC50 North and proceed for 4 miles then turn right into " Beaver Dam State Recreation Area " and proceed as listed above. Share this info. with everyone you know. THEIR RULES: No Alcholic Beverages are permitted in the park. Pets are required to be on a 8 foot or shorter leash No loud music (oh well, there goes dancing on the tables) Swimming and fires in designated areas only. No firearms and explosives The Shelter closes 30 min. before the park closes. (ON SATURDAY, 9/30, THE SHELTER CLOSES AT 7:30 PM {1930 for those of us on Military time}) I intend to be there around 10:30 to start setting up. Picnic start time is 12:30 pm and if you want to come earlier to help, it would be appreciated! -Ginny Ivanoff mgb: 3/1/00 348/
