I have been researching mgb for over a year now... I have been

working on my packet for a couple of months. My letter to my

insurance from Dr. R. has been submitted to them for approval. They

have had it over two weeks and I haven't heard anything. I called

yesterday and was told that they would complete the review by the end

of the day. I am trying so hard to not get my hopes up but I can't

help it. It seems that all I can think about is having this

procedure. I know that I will be devastated if they decline

coverage. It states in the policy that wls would be covered if it's

a medical emergency and life threatening. I am hoping that Dr. R.'s

letter will convince them that my weight is life threatening.

I have been reading all the postings for a couple months now. It is

so exciting to see everything come in to place for others. I still

have to get my history and physical from my pcp but he is all for the

procedure. He's even found some information on the mgb and brought

it to me to see. My daughter in law took my pictures night before

last (I hate seeing pics of myself)...I have the majority of my

medical records, I had a mammogram last week and the blood work. I

still have to get the EKG (already have an order for it) and my pcp

is going to do my pap when I go back in a few days. I have all my

contacts, the letters to Dr. R. from my sons, my pcp is still working

on his letter. I have the patient letter completed but think I will

go add more info to it. I've been doing all this while still trying

not to get my hopes up....which is practically impossible...I was

going to wait to post if I get approval from my insurance but I was

hoping that if everyone on here says a little prayer for me that it

may help.

Also, I've seen it mentioned in postings about a " test " from Dr. R.

Can someone tell me where I can find the questions so I can

incorporate them in to my patient letter?

Also, what's the difference in having the procedure at vs.

Durham?? Does anyone ever go alone. I would rather go down myself

rather than have my sons miss class and work for a week. As long as

there's someone else there that I can talk to and visit with I think

I'd be ok. I'm asking again----everyone please say a little prayer

for me to be approved. I should know something in a day or so. Good
