Packet

Some of you have emailed and asked me how long it took for me to find

out I was approved by Dr. R. He received my packet via Fed Ex on

Thursday morning, and I received the email yesterday (Monday).

Somethings to consider, I've been a pest as far as trying to get all

my " ducks in a row " due to my limited open enrollment period for

health insurance at work. I'm sure Debbie and Barbara just cringed

when they saw an email appear from me - haha. I dont' suggest doing

this if possible as I know they are very very busy people. Perhaps

my

time was fast because I don't share some of the more serious health

problems as some of you do, making it easier for Dr. R. to evaluate

my

case. I'm sure there are any number of reasons. I sent the required

information he asks for on the webpage as well as letters of support

from my Endocrinologist, and I also had a Psych eval done, she also

supports this journey.

Patient Letter

I used the headings from the sample letter and went from there.

Stating facts IN MY OWN WORDS, writing as if I were talking to my

best

friend, not like I was reading from some text I had read. My letter

ended up being 10 pages. Understanding/comprehending what you read

is

what matters, not that you can copy the text from something you read.

Apply it to yourself... My husbands letter was one short paragraph -

stating he knows the battle I've had for years, that he's read and

understands the manual, and is very supportive of helping me. My

13-yr old daughter wrote a 1page letter, and it made me cry. I had

no

idea that my being overweight had such an " internal " impact on her.

I hope this helps.

Waunakee, WI

ps - would anyone be willing to send me a North Carolina state map?

Or if there is a map more details to the Durham area?? I'd be happy

to

pay for the map and postage...

Thanks much
