Shirley - pancreas divisum and surgery

Hi Shirley,

I noticed your response to Jen included your experience with the

TP / ICT surgery for your pancreas divisum. I am wondering if

you care to share how you got to that point....what criteria you

used to make the decision to do such a drastic step? How long

did you try other treatments before you realized that you needed

this surgery? What other therapies did you try? Was the

decision one of those last hope steps? Was your pancreas

totally atrophied?

I guess I am a little " shocked " that your pancreas divisum led to

such a drastic step in your case as I have been consoling myself

that this pancreas divisum is a relatively minor condition within

the family of all causes of chronic / acute pancreatitis (at least

that is what my doctors cause me to believe).

Anything that you care to share about your experience with

pancreas divisum and its effect on you and your treatment

decisions is appreciated because I am expecting to meet up

with my surgeon in the next months to discuss surgical options,

if any, that may be appropriate for me in the future. Thanks.
