Guest guest
I am relieved yet angry at having to fork over 3k bucks tomorrow. I'm trying to decide if I should send a letter of complain to CT. On 11/7 my son was taken out of his band after only 6 weeks of treatment. The plagio was almost gone but the brachy was still significant. His CI went from 98 to 95%. The tech was very nice but refused to give him more tim in the band or recommend a 2nd band. I was not at all happy with the result. His physical therapist and Dr agreed his head was still flat as did strangers " oh don't worry about his flat head, his hair will cover it. " etc. I was not just being a picky mom. I felt like there was still room left in the band since it was still a little loose so I called up the next day and asked to have a second opinion about continuing treatment. The receptionist gave me an appointment and then canceled it the next day telling me my son's case " had to be reviewed by a superior. " A person who never saw my son took over 2 weeks to get back to me to tell me...to get a second opinion with the same technician I originally had a 2nd opinion appointment with. I then called but they had no appointments available until almost 2 weeks later. Now a month went by and the band really was too small. When we finally got in, the 2nd tech recommended another band. By now the exit scan we did (which had put my son in hysterics) was too old. I said great let's get the band, let's set up a scan appointment. They wouldn't let me set up a scanning appointment until the paperwork was taken care of. It took them until January to get insurance and Dr's scripts together (even though with the first band it took 2 days). To top it off my new insurance won't pay a penny. The 2nd band will be ready 1/23. I am really upset that we lost that time between his 7th and 9th month. We'll never get that head growth back and I'm concerned we won't see the level of correction we could have if he had spent more time in the first band or went straight into the 2nd. I have no idea why they were so uncooperative. They were so helpful in the beginning. I don't know if they were trying to cover up a mistake in the manufacture of the first band (it didn't correct the brachy and he had to be taken out of even though it wasn't snug and very little foam had been shaved out) or they just didn't want to go against the first tech's opinion. I had kid with significant brachy, a pediatrician on board with banding, and was willing to pay out of pocket...what went wrong? Should I complain? I'm worried that if I do they might not treat my son well.
